MIXED REACTIONS AS PRESIDENT TINUBU WITHDRAWS NAME OF MINISTERIAL NOMINEE FROM LIST

As at on Wednesday, August 2nd 2023, Maryam Shettima was listed among the ministerial nominees, but just two days after submitting the list to the senate, President Bola Tinubu, on Friday surprisingly withdrew her and replaced her with that of Mariya Mahmoud.

According to information gathered, on Thursday,  Nigrians on social media reacted to Mariam Shettima's nomination. While some praised her and hailed Tinubu, some others blasted Tinubu for her nomination.

Here are five things to know about Maryam Shettima;

1. Her full name is Maryam Shettima Ibrahim, but popularly known as Maryam Shetty.

2. She was born on April 8, 1979 (44 years old)
3. She is a political and social activist. She is a national leader of #WeBelieve, an APC support group.

4. She obtained her BSc from Bayero University, Kano, with a distinction in Physiotherapy. She also has an MSc in Sports Physiotherapy from the University of East London.
5. She was once chosen to represent Nigeria at the United Nations General Assembly.

A female soldier enforcing the curfew imposed by Adamawa state government has killed a senior colleague at a checkpoint in Yola, the state capital.  Daily Trust reports that the female soldier simply identified as Lance Corporal Nkiru shot a captain who tried to intervene in her altercation with civilians at Fire Service Round About in the state capital. Eyewitnesses say the female soldier had insisted that motorists retuning home during the curfew hours must turn back. Some of them had identified themselves as workers on essential duty but she stood her ground. “Some people stopped at the check point explained themselves as workers on essential duties but the female soldier insisted they must turn back. A captain came forward to intervene. Gay Wedding Bursted in Ekpan, Delta State

Yesterday Tuesday, August 29, 2023, Operatives of the Delta State Police Command, Ekpan division ha arrested sixty-seven 'gay suspects' in the Ekpan area of the State, according to reports. According to the report, the command's Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, made this known in a tweet on Tuesday August 29.  The Police Spokesperson said the suspects were arrested at a gay wedding ceremony between Daniel Pius (groom) and Maxwell Ohwonowho (bride) at Teebulus Hotel in Ekpan on Monday August 28. Edafe Bright added that they were paraded at Ekpan Police Station. Wonders keep happening everyday.
